Bathroom Renovations First Five Tips

  1. Stick with proven performers
“Tiling floors in a darker tile and having white tiles on the walls always looks great,” she says. “Add a vertical strip of decorative tiles in the shower and voila, it will change the look and the feel of the bathroom already.”
  1. Keep the plumbing in place
If you’re completely ripping everything in the bathroom to replace with new, try and keep your plumbing in the same place. You will save thousands of dollars if you are not moving where your shower, toilet, bath and vanity previously lived.
  1. Make use of your frame
Once everything is ripped out, “add a few extra noggins to your frame”, Stankovich suggests. “It’s very frustrating if you want to add towel rails and hooks and you can't screw them in, because there is nothing behind the plaster for them to adhere to.”
  1. Give the bath a face lift
Giving a bath a face-lift is easy, according to Stankovich. “You may not even need to replace it – you could just resurface it for a fresh new look,” she says.
  1. Repair the right way
If you have had water damage in the bathroom, you may need to re-sheet the walls with water resistant board that you waterproof before you begin tiling.

Here are five More Tips for Bathroom Renovations

1. Choose elegant fixtures.
A pedestal sink with graceful lines is more attractive than a blocky cabinet vanity. A classic claw-foot tub is like bathroom sculpture. Even enclosed in a deck, the simple lines of the lip have an inherent beauty that surpasses most acrylic versions.
2. Sit in a bathtub before buying it.
Bigger isn't always better. A 60-inch tub is fine for most people. It offers enough room to stretch out and provides a secure foothold, so you don't float into oblivion when the tub is full. Assess the angled back and lip for comfort and neck support –- a tub for two people slants at either end and has taps in the middle. If you only have enough space for a small tub, buy an extra-deep one.
3. Select durable flooring.
Ceramic, marble and stone tiles are all excellent durable and water-resistant choices for a bathroom. Sub-floor heating coils will make these hard surfaces warm. Well-sealed hardwood floors offer natural warmth and act as a foil for the other hard, cold surfaces in a bathroom.
4. Hang a stylish mirror.
One beautifully framed mirror over a sink is more attractive than many surfaces covered with mirror. Supplement it with a wall-mounted adjustable makeup mirror, and consider installing a lighted, mirrored shaving niche in your shower stall.
5. Use found space.
Take advantage of space between wall studs by recessing a tall storage cabinet into the wall to maximize vertical storage while saving floor space. The cabinet should have an interior depth of at least three inches and a door flush with the wall.

Trends in Modern Bathroom Renovations

Renovating bathrooms is a consistently evolving service to provide with new technologies, ideas and trends for your bathroom happening on a daily basis. The order to impress has been set and 2016 is looking to be a year full of amazing bathroom transformations.

If you would like to know more about renovating your bathroom, bathroom renovation costs or need a qualified carpenter to help you out with your renovations contact Full Bathroom Renovations.

Over on the lifestyle blog I read something I wanted to share about keeping up with bathroom renovation trends of 2016.

Bathroom trends come and go, so here's how to get the most out of your renovation choices.

Go Organic.

Organic shapes are becoming very popular as this gives the bathroom a more natural feel.

Free Standing Success

Free standing baths are the way to go! They come in both modern and heritage styles and really add that high-end feel. They are also perfect for making the room feel bigger because the floor extends to the wall creating space around the bath.

The angled sides and curved rim on the tub break up and soften the hard lines of a bathroom -
creating a relaxing space.

Consider a Wet Room

If you need space in your bathroom, having a shower above the bath is the way to go - however there's a new solution: a wet room. This allows for a larger shower head that cascades water over a larger area. However, if a wet room isn’t a practical solution for your family home a frame less shower screen still gives the illusion of space and openness.

Think About the Sink

While traditional sinks are set into the vanity or bench top, you can think outside the box. Selecting one that sits on top adds an element of style and grace.

Next up we have some modern bathroom renovations created by Interior stylist, Kirsten Grove over on the simply grove blog.

I am SO EXCITED to show you this most recent bathroom project that I designed for clients who are straight from heaven. Seriously, they are amazing and have become personal friends, so this bathroom makes me even more happy. Together with Kohler, we created a modern, clean bathroom.

Simply Grove

My favorite item in the bathroom is the matte black faucet. IT’S PERFECTION! It’s one of those items that could be in a room full of stuff and still shine like a star. My client had a mid-century dresser that was used in another room. She wanted to use it as the vanity, so we topped it with marble and used the Vertical under mount sink in white. For the vanity lighting, we chose the Isaac 1 Light Pendant from Schoolhouse Electric. The room has the perfect amount of natural light during the day but at night they rely on recessed lighting and the two pendants.

A classic yet transitional option for flooring is a herringbone pattern in marble with white grout. It’s the perfect compliment for this space. The tiling around the tub and two main walls are square white tiles with white grout. The tub is the Parity under-mount in white with the square tiles surrounding the entire tub. We wanted simple hooks for towels. The Stillness robe hooks were perfect options!

I love pairing vintage with clean and simple. The Ronglan mirror from Ikea looks awesome next to the mid-century dresser.

The bathtub faucet needed to be simple yet elegant. I’ve always loved the look of the Purist faucet with cross handles. It can compliment many styles. We also paired it with the Purist shower faucet.

As part of the spring 2015 One Room Design Challenge—a biannual blogger event organized by the blog Calling it Home—20 bloggers accepted the challenge of completely making over a single space in their homes in under six weeks.

Blogger and designer Jenna Sue, of Jenna Sue Design Co., opted to take on the daunting challenge of renovating her circa 1970s guest bathroom for the project.

Below, a few of the smart design lessons we learned from Jenna Sue's stunning bathroom makeover:

1. Go ahead and blend different design styles, as long as there's an element that ties it all together.

Jenna Sue decided to stray from her go-to modern farmhouse look, because she figured "if I'm going to experiment, why not in a guest bathroom?" While the resulting space blends bold patterned tiles and mixed metals in a tiny space, the rustic wood elements and muted color palette offer a sense of cohesiveness.

2. Don't be afraid to customize with paint.
